Husavik

Husavik is THE place in iceland to do whale watching. I wanted to go fishing too as my mother had seen some huge cod in the harbor. Unfortunately there wa only whale watching planned but one of the three companys offered to go fishing if the whales were close by. We took them but at the trip the sea was rough and the whales far out. But it was sunny and I was still tired because of northern lights watching two yesterday so i took the chance for a nap in the sun. On the way back Captain  Þorkell seemed to be not satisied to and invited us for another trip in the afternoon and that one was amazing! Again the whales were far out but there were plenty of them and the sea was calm now. If you came to Husavik I can only recommend to go straightly to Salka whale watching – the guys there are amazing! After spending one night in a bed we go hunting the noorthern lights again that following night to the most northern place of iceland – successfully!

Godsfall to Nowhere (Myrvatn Lake, Namafjall)

In the evening we stopped east of the position on the map on a small road to watch the northern lights. What we saw at night you can find scrolling down to the northern lights pictures.

Isafjördur to Godsfall

We went on this night as I was desperate to see the northern lights and we had spent too much time in the westfjords anyway. However it was cloudy all night so no chance to see any northern lights. Therefor we got a real stunning sunrise about 20km before Akuyeri. We had to organize a few things so we slept a little in the car in town until the shops opened. When all was done (which took us nearly all day) we went on to todays target – the Godsfall! MAP

Patreksfjördür – Isafjördür
